University Lecturer and Soccer-Adept Jörg Wontorra write Leadership Guidebook

Leadership in sports, economy, associations and politics functions according to the same principles. Therefore entrepreneurs, executives and others with leadership tasks can lean a lot from professional soccer.

That is the conclusion of the book “Management for the Champions League”, written by Prof. Dr. Ralf Lanwehr from the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef · Bonn together with Prof. Dr. Sven Voelpel from Jacobs University Bremen and longtime soccer anchorman Jörg Wontorra and which was published now.

The book shows which leadership and management techniques are particularly successful in soccer and can be transferred to businesses and other forms of cooperation. The parallel balancing of security, demands and advancing employees, attention inwards and orientation towards competitors as well as the pursuit of short-term and long–term goals are decisive lessons for leaders, managers, coaches and executives, which are portrayed comprehensibly with the help of examples from professional soccer.

The author, Ralf Lanwehr, is professor for business administration at the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef · Bonn and lectures sport management at Jena University.
