Practical elements

Internship

One internship of 5-6 months length enables our students to translate their academic knowledge into practical experience. The internship can be taken either in Germany or abroad. It represents a crucial element of our studies: Students establish first ties with the industry and have the chance to leave a first mark in the memory of potential employers.

Practical Programme

A further addition to the study programme’s emphasis on practical experience is what we call “Practical Programme”. The Practical Programme is offered during the first or second semester.

The programme consists of the following elements:

  • Aspects of nutritional science
  • Wine Seminars
  • Service Training in the university’s restaurant
  • Practical kitchen management (restaurant’s kitchen and demonstration kitchen)
  • Complete planning, organisation and running of the “Student Gala Diner”

Workshops and presentations by the service industry’s experts complete the programme as well as field trips to hotels and companies of the hospitality industry.
